Lost a save, missing a purchase, or found a bug in a banana suit? Here's how to sort it out.

Write to us

We're a one-person studio and read every email.

Tell us your iPhone model, iOS version and the game's version from Settings › About, and what happened just before the problem. A screenshot helps a lot.

Saves & iCloud

Is my progress saved?

Yes, automatically, on your iPhone. If you're signed in to iCloud, the game also keeps a copy in your own iCloud account, so your career survives a reinstall and follows you to a new iPhone. We can't see or read it.

You can check the status in Settings › Saves › iCloud save.

I got a new iPhone. How do I get my career back?
  1. Sign in to iCloud on the new iPhone with the same Apple Account.
  2. Install Big Night Tycoon and open it.
  3. If iCloud has a save that's further along than the one on the phone, the game asks Continue from iCloud? Tap Use iCloud save.

Careful: keeping the phone's save instead replaces the copy in iCloud.

It says iCloud has a save from a newer version

That save was made with a newer version of the game than the one on this iPhone. Update Big Night Tycoon from the App Store and open it again.

Can I play without iCloud?

Of course. Your career is then saved on this iPhone only, so deleting the app deletes your progress too.

Purchases & the ad-free pass

How do I restore my purchases?

Go to Settings › Purchases › Restore purchases (the shop has the same button). This brings back the ad-free pass on a new iPhone or after a reinstall, as long as you use the same Apple Account.

Gem packs are used up when you buy them, so there's nothing to restore. The gems themselves are part of your save, so they come back with your iCloud save.

What does the ad-free pass do?

It's a one-time purchase. Every ad reward in the game becomes one tap, without the video: skipping a wait, boosting a night's profit, cutting a bad night's loss, speeding up a build and the free gems. The same daily limits apply as with ads.

It doesn't expire and it isn't a subscription.

I bought something and it didn't arrive
  1. Make sure you're online, then close and reopen the game: pending purchases are delivered on the next start.
  2. Try Settings › Purchases › Restore purchases.
  3. Still missing? Email us with the date and time of the purchase and the product. Your Apple receipt email helps (please black out your address).
How do I get a refund?

Apple handles all payments, so refunds go through Apple: reportaproblem.apple.com. We never see your card or bank details.

The calendar & time

How does the real-time calendar work?

The game runs on real time: one in-game week is one real hour. Forecasts and new offers roll in as the hours pass.

  • Every offer has a fixed start time. Small gigs start within minutes; bigger events are an hour or more away; flagship nights are booked many hours ahead.
  • Booking puts the event on your calendar. Back-to-back bookings are fine, overlaps aren't. Some events need a floor changeover first, and that takes calendar time too.
  • When the time comes, the doors open and the night waits for you. It never starts without you, unless you've let your assistant run it.
  • Don't want to wait? A rewarded ad or a few gems skip straight to the next event.
What happens while I'm away?

Booked nights wait at the doors until you're back. Wages and loan repayments are paid per event night, not per hour, so there's no bill running while you're gone.

Nights you handed to your assistant are the exception: they run on time, even with the app closed, and you get a recap the next time you open the game.

Can I skip ahead by changing my iPhone's clock?

No. The game keeps its own clock that ignores changes to the iPhone's date and time, and when you're online it checks the real time on the web. Moving the clock forward doesn't skip anything: the game simply waits until real time catches up. Nothing gets punished either, so if your clock was just wrong, no harm done.

How long do upgrades take?

Minutes, not days. Small upgrades are ready in a few minutes; the biggest take up to about an hour. The venue keeps working during a build, with the area under construction closed. You can finish a build early with gems or speed it up with a rewarded ad.

Notifications

What does the game notify me about?

Only things you'd want to know: the doors are open for a booked event, an incident needs your call, your assistant has a night covered, your builds are finished, and a daily reward is waiting.

These are local reminders scheduled on your iPhone. Nothing is sent from a server.

How do I turn notifications on or off?

In the iPhone's Settings › Notifications › Big Night (the game's name on the Home Screen). If you said no when the game first asked, you can switch them on there too.

Ads, data & privacy

Do I have to watch ads?

Never. Ads are optional videos you choose to watch for a reward. There are no banners and nothing interrupts play. With the ad-free pass you get the rewards without the videos.

In the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland, Google asks for your consent before ads load. Change your choice any time in Settings › Ads › Privacy choices.

What data does the game collect?

No account, no name, no email. The game sends anonymous gameplay events and error reports, tied to a random ID the game makes up, so we can fix bugs and balance the game. Rewarded ads come from Google AdMob, and payments go through Apple. The privacy policy has the full story.

How do I switch off usage data?

Go to Settings › Privacy and switch off Share anonymous usage data. The game stops sending straight away and deletes any events still waiting on your iPhone.

How do I delete my data?
  1. Delete the app: this removes the save on your iPhone.
  2. Delete the iCloud copy: in the iPhone's Settings › your name › iCloud › Manage Storage, pick the game and delete its data. The exact menu names depend on your iOS version.
  3. Usage data already sent: email us and we'll help you find and delete it.

There's no account to close: we never had one for you.

Requirements & the rest

Which devices does it run on?

iPhone with iOS 17 or later. The game adjusts its detail level to your iPhone, so older models stay smooth.

Do I need to be online?

No, you can play offline. Ads, purchases and the iCloud copy of your save need a connection, and the game checks the time on the web when it can.

Can I replay the tutorial?

Yes. Marge the groundskeeper will happily walk you through it again: Settings › Help › First-night tour › Replay. The tour starts the next time you pick a venue. First-time tips can be reset in the same place.

Can I make the text bigger or turn off motion?

Yes: Settings › Accessibility has larger text sizes and a reduce-motion switch. The game also follows the iPhone's own Reduce Motion setting.
