Inspired by exhibition centres and esports arenas
Expo & Esports Centre

The real thing: exhibition halls and esports arenas
An exhibition hall is designed around one thing: a big, flat, empty floor. The floor is built to carry heavy loads, with power, water and data in ducts underneath so a stand can plug in almost anywhere. Large doors let trucks drive straight into the hall.
A trade fair is a building project. During build-up, contractors put up hundreds of stands in a few days. The show runs, and then everything is taken down again so the next event can move in.
Esports turned some of these halls into arenas. A tournament brings in a stage, giant screens, player booths and banks of seats for fans who come to watch other people play. Katowice in Poland is a well-known example: its Spodek arena hosts the Intel Extreme Masters, with a gaming expo in the congress centre next door.
