Inspired by town grounds with a running track
Stadium

The real thing: the town ground with a running track
All over Europe, the local stadium does double duty. A grass pitch for the football club sits inside a running track, and the same stands watch school sports days, athletics meetings and the odd summer concert.
The track is a compromise. It lets one ground serve many sports, which is why towns built so many of them, but it pushes fans far from the action. That is why clubs that can afford it often move to a football-only ground, or build new stands right up to the touchline.
A small ground lives on lots of modest events and a loyal crowd. The clubhouse bar can matter as much as the turnstiles, and the groundskeeper is a local legend.
